Follow on Google News | Tollwood summer festival 2010 with Norah Jones, Pet Shop Boys and Crosby, Stills & NashMUNICH / GERMANY: From July 1st to July 25th Tollwood summer festival takes place in the heart of Munich.
By: Tollwood Festival, Christiane Stenzel The line-up at Tollwood Music Arena demonstrates the dazzling array of music genres and includes artists such as Grammy laureate singer/songwriter Norah Jones, the famous folk-rock band Crosby, Stills & Nash with songs such as “Judy Blue Eyes” as well as the voice of Supertramp, Roger Hodgson. Also on the music pitch are the Pet Shop Boys, with Tollwood as the only German date of the summer, country singer Kris Kristofferson and former Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) front man John Fogerty. For theatre lovers, Tollwood includes four international theatre and performance companies presenting a repertoire from outdoor performance right up to clownery and circus. This summer’s novelties: The “Blue Note Lounge”, a tent for jazz, bebop and blues as well as “The village square”, a Bavarian beer garden area, with live-music and a traditional, Bavarian-style bowling alley. The international music-acts, theatre productions and performances occur next to the scenery of the “market of ideas” which consists of more than 200 stalls where people can buy handicraft or taste organic food from all over the world. More than 70 percent of all performances, which range from music, theatre to environmental activities or kids entertainment, are non-ticketed and free. # # # Tollwood is a privately run company for cultural events and environmental activities which runs a cultural tent festival in Munich twice a year. The festival compounds three different aspects: a cultural program with music, theatre, performances and arts, numerous activities promoting the environmental protection and creation of ecological awareness as well as the “market of ideas” with organic food and international handicraft. The small, regional festival founded in 1988, today has developed into a famous cultural event that is known nationwide and visited by 1.5 million visitors each year. In summer it is held for about 25 days in June/July, in winter the festival starts just before the first Advent Sunday, offering a Christmas market through December 23 and cultural events up to New Year’s Eve. The entire summer festival program will soon be available at www.tollwood.de, Information and Ticket-Hotline 0700-38385024 (12 Ct/min). End
