Jan. 31, 2010 - PRLog -- The project aims at increasing CMS market transparency by providing a coherent and objective rating of the CMS in RuNet, the Russian part of Internet. The Ranking is based on data accumulated by the ‘CMS Magazine’, the analytical resource about web-development market.

The ‘CMS Magazine’ catalogue provides the largest list of websites based on different CMS. This data is entered by the web design studios that are CMS agents via member area and by users and website owners via the special form on the ‘CMS Magazine’ site. The larger is the number of websites working with a specific Management System and the hire is the index of popularity of each site with the web search engines, the higher ranking gets the CMS.

Along with the global CMS ranking, the local rankings are being developed basing on the following criteria: the kind of the website (corporate websites, e-shops, promo-sites, Internet portals and services, blogs, social networks); the platform (IIS, Apache, nginx); kind of license (commercial and open-source); alienability (full packaged product or individual solution).

– People can have different opinions of CMS rankings, but we have to admit that rankings are useful both for the companies and individual developers when they are facing the need to choose their first CMS or want to enlarge the list of CMSs already operating. As for the customers, they will get the full spectrum of CMS solutions and CMS-based projects available at the market, says Gaidar Magdanurov, a Microsoft MVP.

The data can be entered into the ranking system till January 31, 2010

The final ranking – TOP-50 CMS of the RuNet – will be published in February 2010. The intermediate results are available on-line at the ‘Russian Internet Ranking’ page (http://www.ratingruneta.ru/cms).

All data entered for the ranking purposes undergoes automatic testing executed by the robot developed by the Internet Agency «Business Reklama». The robot tests the site for presence of CMS by its ‘fingerprints’ – a number of marks that establish if the site is managed via CMS.

- As developers we hope that the CMS ranking will enable the potential purchasers of the program products to get deeper understanding of the RuNet CMS market. The CMS ranking won’t be a static annual ranking – we intend to create an interactive analytical tool, summarizes Development Director of the ‘CMS Magazine’ and ‘RuNet Ranking’ projects Sergey Besshabashnov.
