Jan. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Experts in the field suggest that once a job seeker has secured employment, making the right impression is vital.

This is the view of Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys, a national supplier of payroll, HR, Time & Attendance and Access Control solutions.

Accsys is an established, respected provider of management solutions aimed at the HR, payroll administration, time & attendance and access control market segments.

The company has emphasised its position as formidable competitor within these growing areas of commerce with the entrenchment of its e-Learning course and recruitment division, called Accsys PeoplePlace.

Amid a climate of intense competition for placements, for work opportunity, education, skills development and career progress, job seekers can ill-afford to make a negative impression on the first day says Schroenn.

“Intense financial pressure on companies, on employers and employees means that those fundamental aspects associated with recruitment taken for granted, become all the more significant and substantial. Factors such as behaviour, inductions, job specifications, information and appearance all come into play,” Schroenn explains.

Executive management and recruitment specialists at Accsys advise that newly recruited employees need to consider that what they say and do on the first day could have serious implications and affect the relationship.

“It is not just a matter of the ‘first day’ or ‘first week’ or even ‘first month’,” says Schroenn. “It is about demonstrating a certain respect for processes and procedures, to indicate that you – as a newly appointed member of staff – recognise and acknowledge all aspects of the place of work. This involves everything from hours of work, payment schedules, dress code to smoking policy, information dissemination and compliance regulation.”

According to Accsys management there are a number of practical issues that an employee must be aware of and always consider.

Among these is to fully understand the chain of command within the organisation or company – particularly the HR policy and processes that may be in place, to know the rules of the business, code of conduct and adhere to established methodology and obligations in terms of the relationship.   Induction is seen as the company’s responsibility, but it is equally important that the new recruit takes responsibility for ensuring that they are fully part of the process.

“Induction and the first day should never be underestimated. These critical aspects of corporate management can truly influence relationships and make or break investments by companies in the skills they have acquired,” adds Schroenn.
