When Managing Director of Health and Fitness Company Core Direction met UK born dance professional & choreographer Michelle Edwards, the concept for Core Dance Academy was born.

CORE DANCE ACADEMY brings a new concept to performing arts targeted at children aged 1 to 18yrs through different dance genres such as Moms’n’Tots to strengthen the bond between mother and child, Ballet from 3-12 to build confidence, posture and grace, moving our teenagers aged 13-18 into an environment where they can feel free to express themselves, develop their character and mould their youthful nature through Musical Theatre, Street Jazz, Contemporary and Freestyle.

Core Dance Academy is run by Michelle Edwards who started dancing at the age of four and carried out her training with "The Imperial Society of Dance Teachers" based in London, UK. Michelle Studied the I.S.T.D Associate in Classical Ballet, Tap and Modern dance over 3 years during her time at "The Centre of Performing Arts" as well as exams in Anatomy and History of Dance. Leaving College she carried on working towards her I.S.T.D and qualified in Foundation in Dance Instruction (FDI) & Certificate in Dance Education (CDE).  At college she studied many other styles of dance from, Contemporary Dance and Musical Theatre to Commercial Jazz and Hip Hop.

Michelle's career in Dance and Performing Arts started from the pantomime company "Hammond Productions" where she choreographed and performed many shows. From there Michelle took to the ocean and performed in shows across a number of cruise ships under "MS Asuka Cruise Lines and Celebrity Cruises" including, "The Summit", "Millennium" and "The Constellation". Michelle's career progressed to the dryer lands of Portugal, where she performed in Casino Figueira De Foz. Soon after Michelle went back to the UK and became Head of Dance at the Belcanto London Academy, theatre school teaching fulltime in many styles. In addition to her previously mentioned career highlights, Michelle has also danced around the world in numerous continents, from North & South America, Australia, Europe & Asia to the small island of Japan.
