DALLAS, TX—Despite the ongoing recession, employees of the home security system company Monitronics gave wholeheartedly this month for an outstanding cause. The company exceeded all expectations in their ninth annual food drive for Metrocrest Social Services. Monitronics collected 75% more than last year’s drive, with this year’s donations totaling 13,622 items, including cash converted to food. This represents a little more than 18 food items from each of their 750 employees.
"The compassion of Monitronics in their abundance of giving both monetary support and food items is heartwarming to all of us, especially to the families in need in our community," said Bunny Summerlin, Metrocrest Executive Director. "The Monitronics annual food drive kicks off our holiday programs with a bang each year and with the increased need, it couldn’t come at a better time."
Metrocrest provides emergency assistance and comprehensive programs to move families toward self-sufficiency;
“To reach this record despite the economic recession and higher prices for food and gas, Monitronics employees dug deep and gave generously,”
