Annoucing Transmedia Feature Film in Qatar

Nov. 3, 2009 - PRLog -- QATAR’S FIRST INDEPENDENTLY FINANCED FEATURE FILM LAUNCHED
Announced on Explore Qatar today, “Footprints In The Sand”, is the first international feature film to be fully financed, produced and filmed in Qatar.
Qatar is a  country located on a small peninsula on northeasterly coast of the larger Arabian Peninsula. Qatar’s capital Doha is a rich tapestry of a expatriates from Asia, Europe and the Americas making it the ideal backdrop for this universal story of one photographer’s quest to reconnect with the positive side of humanity.
The announcement coincides with the closing ceremony of inaugural Doha Tribeca Film Festival whose workshop attendees will also have to opportunity to actively participate in this groundbreaking project. Additionally, Qatari and international students from the American universities operating locally in Education City will work along side the film’s multinational crew of industry professionals.
The film, currently in pre-production, will be a truly inventive and modern undertaking, utilizing latest transmedia technology and digital filmmaking methods. From the latest digital RED cameras whose flexibility and high definition image quality will allow the public to track and become involved in the entire production process through updates on the website and production blog. This film will be truly a 21st century production leveraging the power of social media and inspiring the new generation of filmmakers.
For the time being, producers are keeping the Director and two main roles under wraps, but expect an announcement before the New Year. However, the lead local role is already confirmed as Adel Al-Ansari, one of the most famous Qatari actors.
“Footprints In the Sand” will begin full production March 2010.

FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND
Adem was a war junkie who fed his addiction by shooting the darkest sides of human nature with his girlfriend/assistant—until she was fatally wounded in Afghanistan. After a self-destructive stint he follows the advice of his new friend Mohammed and moves to Qatar. Eventually Adem begins to find small pleasures in his life as a hotel clerk. When one day seemingly like all others, Katrina stops him in his tracks the moment he lays eyes on her.
This brief encounter sends him on a physical and emotional trip where he revisit his darker past, travels to the United Sates and back to Qatar seeking answers that could return him fully human state.
Will this journey will allow him to pick up his camera again?
