PRLog -- A Research Paper titled “A scalable web‐based platform for sharing and navigating 360 degree cylindrical panoramas” by Padmanabhan Thangaraj and Abhinav Asthana, students of BITS ‐ Pilani Goa Campus has been selected amongst the top five for the USID‐ HCI (Human Computer Interaction)
Conference 2009 to be held at the Leela Kempenski, Bangalore on the 18th to 20th of September 2009.

was initially designed as a virtual tour for the BITS ‐ Pilani, Goa Campus by the students of campus. The software is accessible over the net, and provides the users an opportunity to view the campus in the virtual reality of 360° Panoramas. This software is scalable and thus can be modified for large scale projects as creating a virtual reality of entire cities and connect each panoramas with geographic relevance. This was the prime reason to explore the software as a research subject to bring to light the potential of the software. It is to be noted that around eighty papers were submitted for the prestigious conference and both students of BITS Pilani Goa Campus have been invited to present the paper. Teams from Yahoo India, IIT Bombay (IDC), University of Michigan, IIM Bangalore, IIT Guwahati, National Institute of Design, Ahmadabad, Infosys, SAP, Accenture, Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Service, Nokia, Doblin Inc., New York and many other institutions and organizations have submitted their papers.
USID 2009 International Conference is the third HCI (Human Computer Interface)
conference in India. The USID Foundation, a community of Human Computer Interaction & Design professionals & enthusiasts is organizing the event. The speakers in the conference include DR. CARRIE GATES, Vice President CA Inc., JENNIFER KILIAN, Creative Director, Frog Design, BILL THIES, Researcher, Microsoft Research, India, SRIDHAR MARRI, Vice President and Head ‐ Communication Design Group, Infosys Technologies, SAURABH KARANDIKAR, Creative Head, Rediffusion – Y&R and many experts.
