Sept. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- When the world was introduced to 3G wireless, people started to realize the power of mobile communication. Wireless communication brings us not only convenience but also efficiency, allowing us to work online using wireless Internet connections. People can work outdoors or wherever they want to. All they need is a wireless card attached to the computer or a mobile phone that supports 3G wireless connection.

4G wireless or the fourth generation wireless was developed to improve the 3G wireless connection speed. With a 4G wireless connection, one is capable of viewing high-quality streaming video transmitted faster than with a 3G wireless connection. Comparing the speed, 4G has a connection speed of 1 Gbps while 3G has a maximum connection speed of 2.4 Mbps (download speed).

The 4G wireless technology is referred to as “MAGIC” which stands for Mobile multimedia, Anytime/any-where, Global mobility support, Integrated wireless, and Customized personal service. When one uses 4G wireless connection, all the communication networks are upgraded and security is improved.

Ways to use the 4G wireless connection

The development of new wireless standards increases the efficiency, capacity, and scalability. We have seen the first generation of the wireless standards that use TDMA and FDMA, the second generation that combines TDMA and FDMA and is called CDMA, and the third generation that uses CDMA as the access scheme, for example, UMTS, HSXPA, and 1xEV-DO.

However, the problem with CDMA was poor spectrum flexibility and scalability, and 4G wireless has been developed to solve that issue.

A new access scheme, such as Orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA), splits radio signals to transmit data that is broadcast over different frequencies. The following are some ways to use 4G wireless connection:

1.WiMAX
2.Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB), also known as CDMA2000 EV-DO
3.Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless LAN technology
4.Long Term Evolution (LTE)

There is no single connection standard like that associated with 3G. However, WiMAX seems to be such an option in many countries. In the future, a mobile phone would come with a WiMAX capability that allows the user to connect to the Internet faster.
