How to Use Coupons at the Grocery Store

I was surprised to learn that your local grocery store can be a better choice.  Most towns have multiple grocery store chains who are always competing for your business. Even though their prices may be higher than the big super stores or discount stores, grocery stores are constantly offering extra incentive sales and free offers that will help to stretch your dollars.

Pick up your local grocery store ads each week, better yet, have flyers mailed to you and check for deals on advertized products for which you have coupons. Be up to date with what kind of sales are going on each week at your local store and utilize the best ways to use coupons.

If you are new to using coupons, you must find out what kind of in store incentives your local grocery store offers. Most grocery stores have their own discount saving card that if used along with your coupons, will add to the extra money you’re going to save, so be sure to sign up for this. Stores will often add other special offers for their discount card such as a free Thanksgiving Turkey with so many points, and other free stuff so take advantage of all of these!

Many local grocery stores double or triple coupons under .99 on certain days! Let’s say you have  three .50 coupons for 1 can of  Campbell’s Chunky soup that sells for around $1.80 each or $5.40 for 3 cans.  Now, by doubling your coupons you save $3.00,  paying only $2.40 which puts $3.00  right back into your pocket! Imagine this same scenario over and over as you shop and save!

At your local store, there are frequent, “buy one get one free,” deals or for example: get a free loaf of Italian bread with the purchase of a jar of Prego sauce that you happen to have a .75 coupon for that will be doubled to $1.50 off, you get the picture.  

Using coupons effectively is definitely worth the effort in saving so much money. It takes some planning and organizing to make the most out of your savings, but once you’ve done it a few times, you’ll be excited and motivated to learn more ways to get what you need for less money.
