BackChat Mobile slams the Parliamentary report, Phoning Home, Inquiry into International Mobile Roaming, released on 19 March 2009 as offering no solutions to the huge costs of mobile roaming. He said, “Travellers certainly cannot rely on the government to make any difference to the exorbitant roaming charges. As the report itself noted: “Users of roaming services hoping for costs to fall should not be in any doubt that regulatory action will take time and is likely to only be periodically successful. “
In it’s submission to the inquiry, BackChat called for greater transparency in roaming pricing so travelers can make an informed decision. This call was ignored in the final report.
