Aug. 5, 2009 - PRLog -- ALPHARETTA, GA (AP) – Nike Sports confirmed today that extreme athlete Brian Cork has injured his left achilles tendon and will undergo tests that include an MRI at Emory Medical Center. Cork is a well known race car driver and tanning enthusiast – as well as extreme athlete, entrepreneur, adventurer, and devil-may-care expert on self indulgence.

Nike said on Tuesday that Cork, 48, will remain on the Nike extreme team rosters through 2012 while he trains and prepares for the Olympics and writes his highly anticipated book entitled: “I Can Kick Your Ass”.

Cork is expected to compete for Nike HTC in the Vancouver Raid later this month, and also appear in HBO’s upcoming premiere of the reality series Extreme Me in February 2010.

Cork has been field testing Nikes new extreme road technology response footwear for the past five months. Up until this recent injury Cork appeared to be on the road to accomplishing his stated objective of being the “biggest smarty-pants this side of anywhere” as one of Nike’s best examples and flag-ship, albeit self-absorbed, athletes.

The 48-year-old has been voted the most thought-provoking athlete-intellectualista of his generation by Time Magazine the last three years.
