Both the US and Canada governments have taken steps to mitigate the erosion by actually diminishing the flow of water going over the falls. The path that the falls cut out has left a wide gorge that is ideal for hiking, observing wildlife and viewing strange rock formations. The history of Niagara Falls is pot marked with warring First Nations peoples to the war of 1812. There are plenty of memorials testifying to lives lost in the past. Niagara Falls is also known to be one of the most haunted areas in the region, ghost tours and theme park style haunted houses will get you in a freaky mood. Though the falls are the main attraction, there is so much more. Clifton Hill has museums, haunted houses, restaurants, the Skywheel and souvenir shops galore. There is the world renowned Marineland, Imax at the Table Rock Centre and the Skylon tower.
