Swine Flu Has Not Ended Yet !

May 12, 2009 - PRLog -- Do you know that the US now has MORE confirmed SWINE FLU cases than Mexico, totalling 2,532 as at 11 May 2009 against Mexico's 1,626 confirmed cases - making US the MOST AFFECTED NATION !

However, the US has only 3 confirmed deaths against Mexico's 48 people ! The 3rd death in the US was reported on Saturday 9 May 2009 of a man in his 30s with a heart condition. US Official warn that the Virus has still to run its course - "More cases, more hospitalisations & more deaths from this SWINE FLU outbreak WILL occur over the coming days & weeks".

Globally, we have more than 4,300 confirmed cases across 30 COUNTRIES ! This include China which reported its 1st case on the Chinese Mainland on Monday.

SWINE FLU HAS ARRIVED IN MAINLAND CHINA

China has confirmed the 1st case of SWINE FLU in a 30 year old student who had recently flown back from the US & currently placed in an infectious diseases hospital in Chengdu. About 130 people who may have  come in contact with the patient on his journey back from the US has been QUARANTINED.

Elsewhere, a 53 year old man who also suffering from diabetes & lung disease became Costa Rica's 1st death from the SWINE FLU & one in Canada. Confirmed cases on Saturday 9 May 2009 : Norway 2 cases, Australia 1 case & Japan 4 cases.

According to Dr Anne Schuchat of the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), "Viruses were unpredictable & it was important to focus on how the Virus was spreading & how it developed in the Southern Hemisphere, WHICH WAS JUST BEGINNING ITS FLU SEASON.

According to UK Chief Medical Officer, Sir Liam Donaldson, "It is too early to assume the SWINE FLU outbreak is a mild infection just because no one in UK has died" - & because Flu Viruses could change character "VERY RAPIDLY'. As of Tuesday 5 May 2009 UK has a total of 28 confirmed cases of SWINE FLU virus - 24 in England & 4 in Scotland.

Similarly, he also warned, "We may see an apparent peak in the incidents over the next month or so, BUT that does not mean it's gone away. It could be that we'll see a resurgence of the Virus in the Autumn & Winter WHEN THE NORMAL FLU SEASON STARTS" & "WE KNOW THAT FLU VIRUSES CAN CHANGE THEIR CHARACTER VERY RAPIDLY AS THEY MOVE THROUGH POPULATIONS".

According to Gail Lusardi, an infection control specialist at Glamorgan University agreed that the BEST ADVICE for Prevention of Swine Flu spreading is to WASH YOUR HANDS & COVER YOUR MOUTH WHEN SNEEZING.
