May 8, 2009 - PRLog -- RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO -- Boym Partners, a design partner of Gourmet Settings, has won the prestigious 2009 National Design Award for Product Design. Part of the White House Millennium Council, The Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum selects only one designer in each discipline from across the United States to recognize them for their achievement, innovation, and overall excellence.

A national Cooper-Hewitt committee, made up of over 1,500 critics, patrons, design professionals, and educators selected Boym Partners for its innovation in design across multiple industries. A designated jury evaluated each design company's body of work before crowning a victor.

According to Cooper-Hewitt, the winner must consistently deliver creations that are original while demonstrating a high level of insight and creativity. Simultaneously, designs must provide a problem-solving solution that leads the industry and raises the bar of excellence. The jury then identifies how each candidate's creation has benefitted society as a whole.

"The stainless steel flatware patterns designed by Boym Partners including the GS Army, Goth, Hybrid, Shadow, and Tech series, demonstrate immense creativity while still maintaining their innovative practicality. Their designs show that it is possible to have a beautiful table setting without sacrificing functionality and usability," said Hildy Abrams, President of Gourmet Settings (http://www.gourmetsettings.com).

Gourmet Settings has applied its zest for innovation in the flatware industry since its inception in 1994. The company is passionate about providing its customers with decorative, functional solutions for every day use as well as special occasions. Gourmet Settings' unique and charismatic designs have earned the company a reputation throughout the world as a top-tier, yet affordable brand name in stainless flatware.

Currently, the company's unique stainless steel flatware collections can be found at Costco, Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma and other fine retailers throughout the world.

"We prove just how decorative and fun flatware patterns can really be, and people recognize that. Our designs aim to be practical enough for everyday use, but elegant and stylish enough to use for special occasions. According to our customers, this is what sets us apart from other flatware companies," said Abrams.
