Specialist Dental Group Launches Patient Education Video Online

Specialist Dental Group has announced the uploading of its patient education video about the “Teeth-in-an-Hour”™ implant procedure on YouTube.com (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhKVaYQ1SWE). It is the first dental practice in Singapore to release a patient education video online.

The video tells the story of Gregory, who lost all his teeth a few years ago, and had to resort to wearing dentures. The dentures irritated him and he did not feel confident when speaking with people. Gregory also could not enjoy the taste of food. He went through the Teeth-in-an-Hour™ implant procedure and it made a significant difference in his quality of life.

Unlike conventional dental implants which require four to six months to complete as time is needed for the implant to heal with the jawbone, the time frame is shortened considerably with Teeth-in-an-Hour™ implants. Using the patient’s CT scan and three-dimensional imaging software, the dental team plans the placement of the implants ahead of time. A custom-made CAD-CAM surgical template is fabricated. This template allows for minimally invasive surgery which promotes quicker healing time. The definitive teeth are attached to the implants on the day of surgery – the surgical placement of the implants and the attachment of teeth take approximately one hour to complete. The patient is able to walk out of the dental clinic with his or her new set of teeth. The overall time required from planning to treatment completion requires 2 to 3 appointments over a period of 2 to 3 weeks. Teeth-in-an-Hour™ is most appropriate for patients with multiple missing teeth.
