FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) –
Oct 05, 2007 – Ultrawave, the ultrasonic cleaning equipment manufacturer has launched an enzymatic cleaning detergent for use in healthcare and medical cleaning applications.
Sonozyme is a poly-enzymatic liquid detergent, packaged in an easy "tear and dose" single shot sachet. Designed for use in ultrasonic cleaning baths, Sonozyme is for use in the dental and medical instrument reprocessing chain as well as laboratory cleaning applications. A vital component in the process of ultrasonic cleaning is the detergent used in the bath. Ultrasonic detergents remove and loosen debris from the surfaces of instruments while also intensifying the cleaning power of the ultrasonic bath. Good detergents reduce the surface tension of the water, increasing the ultrasonic activity. A poor quality detergent in even the best ultrasonic cleaner will produce only average cleaning results. Breaking down organic materials as found on contaminated medical instruments can be difficult to achieve using conventional detergents. For these cleaning applications, enzymatic detergents provide superior results. Sonozyme contains enzymes which break down these organic molecules into water soluble compounds. The particles of these compounds are then removed from the surface of the instruments through a combination of the cleaning solution and the ultrasonic activity. Due to the nature of ultrasonic cleaning, even the most difficult to reach surfaces of submerged surgical instruments are cleaned. As well as containing enzymes, Sonozyme has advanced disinfectant properties which ensure a safer cleaning process for both the patient and the operator. Sonozyme's bactericidal and fungicidal properties hold the contaminants in the solution, preventing adhesion to the instruments when they are removed from the bath. Sonozyme liquid detergent is packaged in a plastic sachet. Each sachet contains the correct amount of detergent to dose the water at the optimum concentration. The corner of the sachet is easily torn so that the correct amount of detergent can be added to the bath every time. Sonozyme liquid detergent dissolves immediately in the water, meaning that there is no need for waiting or stirring in as sometimes necessary with powder detergent. When used in the hygea™ 1250, this single shot dosing system ensures that a validated, traceable and repeatable cleaning process is undertaken cycle after cycle. Sonozyme is supplied in boxes of 120, providing approximately 2 months supply for one hygea™ 1250 ultrasonic bath. Compared to conventional detergent offerings, Sonozyme offers benefits to the end user through the Single Shot Dose system which ensures a repeatable cleaning process. The easy "tear and dose" application eliminates the need for complicated, time consuming measurements and the liquid detergent means instant solubility in the water. Waste is prevented and an easily repeatable cleaning process is undertaken each time When cleaning medical instruments, it is recommended that the ultrasonic bath is emptied and new cleaning solution (water and detergent) added to the bath every 4 hours. # # # About Ultrawave Ltd: Ultrawave are a UK manufacturer of precision ultrasonic cleaning equipment for use in a wide variety of industries.
