Aug. 15, 2007 - PRLog -- Tahiti, French Polynesia - August 16, 2007 -- Accor, the world's largest hotel and tourism group, is promoting exotic weddings at its luxurious and exclusive Sofitel and Novotel resorts in Bora Bora, French Polynesia.

French Polynesia is among the most beautiful and romantic destinations in the world, and has long been popular with newlyweds seeking the ultimate paradise island honeymoon. The island of Bora Bora offers stunning scenery, with shimmering lagoons, lush tropical greenery and spectacular coral reefs - the perfect backdrop for romance. At its resorts on Bora Bora, Accor offers couples the chance to express their love or renew their vows through a traditional Polynesian wedding ceremony.

On the hill of a "moto" (islet) opposite the main island of Bora Bora, the bride and groom arrive on the beach in a traditional Polynesian canoe. Draped in white pareo, the couple ascends to the top of the hill, hand-in-hand, amidst the chanting and dancing of local musicians.

Before dusk, the wedding ceremony is performed, with the setting sun providing a colourful backdrop as the ceremony progresses. Incantations are recited. Vows are exchanged. Upon completion of the ceremony, the newlyweds celebrate their given Tahitian names and are presented with a marriage certificate as a proof of their eternal vows to each other.

To celebrate their romance, the couple is served a Polynesian fruit cocktail as they overlook the romantic sunset. For the ceremonial finale, our chef prepares a sumptuous a la carte dinner menu featuring seasonal delicacies. The dinner is accompanied by musicians who perform traditional Tahitian songs to finish off this unforgettable night - a memory that will surely last forever.

Accor operates two luxury properties in Bora Bora: Sofitel Bora Bora Beach Resort and Novotel Bora Bora Beach Resort.

Sofitel Bora Bora Beach Resort lies on a private beach at Matira Bay. Originally built to house movie star Mia Farrow, along with the cast and crew of the 1977 film Hurricane, the hotel has long been the trend-setter for luxury resorts in the region. It maintains that position today, having recently undergone a US$15 million renovation to introduce new levels of French sophistication to its traditional Tahitian styling. The resort has 64 luxuriously appointed bungalows, each with a private terrace and a choice of location: garden view, beach front or over-water.

Nestled in the mountainside, with rooms overlooking tropical gardens, the Novotel Bora Bora Beach Resort is located just a few steps away from arguably the world's most beautiful lagoon. The lagoon's translucent turquoise waters, filled with a spectacular array of multi-coloured fish and coral, are rimmed with beaches of the finest white sand. Beyond, a panorama of volcanic peaks and lush vegetation completes this magical picture - "the pearl of French Polynesia".

Accor also operates four properties on other islands in French Polynesia: Sofitel Tahiti Resort, Sofitel Moorea Beach Resort, Sofitel Motu Bora Bora a private island, and Novotel Rangiroa Lagoon Resort.
