DELHI, India - Oct. 3, 2026 - PRLog -- India's construction chemicals market is entering a more strategic phase of growth, with infrastructure investment, organised-sector expansion and rising demand for durability-focused solutions changing how construction materials are specified and procured. According to Makreo Research and Consulting, the market reached approximately INR 24,435.88 crore in FY2026 and is projected to exceed INR 34,872.20 crore by FY2031, representing a CAGR of 7.37% over the forecast period.

Why is infrastructure investment strengthening construction chemical demand?

The latest infrastructure spending cycle is creating a larger addressable market for products that improve concrete performance, waterproofing, repair, protection and overall asset life. The Union Budget 2026-27 increased public capital expenditure to INR 12.2 lakh crore, while infrastructure development continues across transport, housing, water, urban mobility and industrial projects.

For construction chemical suppliers, this changes the value proposition. Demand is increasingly moving beyond basic material consumption towards solutions that help contractors and project owners reduce maintenance requirements, improve durability and manage lifecycle costs.

Makreo's analysis indicates that concrete admixtures remain the largest product category, accounting for approximately 32% of market value in FY2026, followed by waterproofing chemicals at around 30%. Adhesives and sealants, repair and rehabilitation chemicals, and protective coatings account for the remaining market.

Is consolidation changing India's construction chemicals competitive landscape?

BirlaNu's planned INR 500 crore investment programme places construction chemicals alongside pipes and other higher-growth categories. Berger Paints has also established a sizeable construction chemicals and waterproofing business, while Tri Polarcon's acquisition of Rockhard Polycoats adds industrial flooring and repair capabilities.

This points towards a market where scale alone will not determine competitiveness. Product breadth, technical support, distribution reach, application expertise and the ability to provide complete solutions are becoming increasingly important.

What will shape the market through 2031?

Makreo Research expects future growth to be increasingly driven by performance rather than volume alone. Waterproofing, high-performance admixtures, repair systems, protective coatings and specialised adhesives are positioned to benefit as project owners place greater emphasis on durability and lifecycle economics.

The expansion of organised construction, wider adoption of ready-mixed concrete, urbanisation beyond Tier-1 cities and growing emphasis on sustainable construction are expected to reinforce this shift.
