Oct. 3, 2026 - PRLog -- Capitol Markets, a Florida-based news site that reports on stock trades disclosed by members of Congress and senior executive-branch officials, published a table on Oct. 1 that puts every member's vote on the Stop Insider Trading Act next to the trades that member has disclosed since January 2025.

The Senate voted 53 to 47 on Sept. 30 to start debate on the bill, seven votes short of the 60 required. The House had passed it 232 to 198 on July 22. The Senate vote split along party lines: all 53 Republicans voted yes, and all 45 Democrats and both independents voted no. Senate Democrats objected to an unrelated voter photo ID requirement the House added and called the trading limits too weak, according to Roll Call.

Of the 100 senators, 33 disclosed at least one trade by themselves, a spouse or a joint account in that period. Twenty-two of them voted yes and 11 voted no. The five who traded most often, Alan Armstrong, David McCormick, John Boozman, Shelley Moore Capito and Tommy Tuberville, all voted yes. Because the vote followed party lines, the site notes that a senator's vote tracks party, not portfolio.

"The vote tells you where a member stands. The filings tell you what that member trades. Readers should see both, with the context that explains the vote," said Matthew, founder of Capitol Markets.

Each member's profile now states the member's vote and links to the full table at https://capitolmarkets.org/research/stock-trading-ban-vote. Votes come from senate.gov and the House Clerk, and trades come from members' own disclosure filings.

The reporting and profiles for 623 officials are free to read at https://capitolmarkets.org. Same-day filing alerts are part of a paid plan.
