Picture Perfect for iOS helps fix group photos spoiled by blinks and awkward expressions

Sept. 15, 2026 - PRLog -- Someone blinks. Someone looks away. Someone's smile disappears just as the camera captures the moment. Pure Imagination's Picture Perfect Group Photos helps solve this familiar problem by automatically combining each person's best captured expression into one photograph.

How it works

Users frame their group and start a five-second capture. Picture Perfect takes a rapid sequence of full-resolution still photographs, recording separate moments that can be combined into a group photo.

The app locates faces and matches each person across the images. It evaluates eye openness, smile, gaze direction and image quality to rank expressions, then selects a starting photograph for the composition.

Picture Perfect automatically picks the highest-ranked compatible expression for each person and combines the selections. Each expression can come from a different photograph, so everyone does not have to get their expression right at exactly the same instant. Optional adjustments are available by tapping a face to see other captured expressions.

The app checks whether each source face's position and angle are compatible with the starting photograph. Facial reference points guide alignment, with adjustments to placement, rotation and scale. The edges of the selected facial area are blended into the composition.

Every expression comes from a photograph the user actually captured. The app does not invent a smile or create a replacement expression. Keeping the camera steady and the group relatively still provides more compatible moments to work with.

Processed on the iPhone

Photo and expression processing take place on the iPhone without uploading source photographs for cloud processing. Captures remain in a local library, and expression selections save automatically for later editing. Finished photographs can be saved or shared.

Picture Perfect supports front and rear cameras and portrait and landscape capture for group selfies, family gatherings and celebrations.

Availability

Picture Perfect Group Photos requires iOS 17 or later. The U.S. App Store lists a free download and trial, with a one-time $9.99 lifetime unlock and Family Sharing.
