Francesca Lessa and Sebastián Santana Camargo Featured on New Books Network Podcast

NEW YORK - Sept. 11, 2026 - PRLog -- Authors Francesca Lessa and Sebastián Santana Camargo were recently featured on the New Books Network podcast, discussing their book Operation Condor: The Pact That Terrorized a Continent(Storia, 2025), the authorized English edition of their acclaimed Plan Cóndor: Viejos secretos y nuevos hallazgos.

The episode, hosted by Pamela Fuentes—historian and editor of New Books Network en Español, and Communications Officer at the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at the University of Toronto—explores the authors' investigation into one of the twentieth century's most far-reaching state terror campaigns: a covert pact among South America's military dictatorships that grew into a coordinated cross-border system of surveillance, kidnapping, torture, and forced disappearance.

In the conversation, Lessa discusses the newly uncovered documents and original research behind the book, as well as the human stories at its center—families who spent decades searching for the disappeared, survivors who fought to be heard, and investigators who worked against years of official denial. The discussion also touches on translator Alejandro Reyes' work bringing the book into English, and Santana Camargo's original illustrations for the edition.
