Prof Chris Imafidon Reflects on the 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks: Lives, Legacy, and Tech

MANHATTAN, N.Y. - Sept. 11, 2026 - PRLog -- On the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, which claimed nearly 3,000 lives, Professor Chris Imafidon—Chair of Excellence in Education and Non-Executive Director of Isatong—has issued a reflection on how that day CHANGED HUMANITY; reshaped security; data policy, and the next generation of technologists.

"The attacks were not just an assault on physical structures but on the very fabric of our sense of security, community, and innovation," said Professor Imafidon, who has advised governments and institutions on technology and policy. "They taught us that our greatest strength lies in our ability to adapt, collaborate, and innovate in the face of adversity."

Technology and continuity after 9/11

The destruction of critical infrastructure in New York exposed how many organizations kept essential data and operations in a single location. That failure mode accelerated a lasting shift toward replication, multi-site backups, cloud platforms, and distributed systems so that a strike on one building would not erase institutional memory.

Isatong, a survivor's family, and Fireflies.ai

Isatong, an enterprise AI and infrastructure firm, was founded by Engr. Isaac Udotong, a technology consultant with decades of work on large U.S. government and Fortune 500 systems. Professor Imafidon serves as a Non-Executive Director of Isatong.

Isaac Udotong is the father of Sam Udotong, co-founder and CTO of Fireflies.ai, the AI meeting-notes platform that later reached unicorn valuation. Isatong has publicly associated Isaac Udotong with remembrance of 9/11 colleagues and victims, including at the 9/11 Memorial. The family presents that experience as part of a continuing commitment to perseverance and to tools that keep communication and knowledge intact when people and places are disrupted.

"This is a testament to the human spirit," Professor Imafidon said. "From the shadow of 9/11 emerged a generation that transformed pain into purpose, using technology to create solutions that empower millions."

Fireflies.ai, co-founded by Sam Udotong and Krish Ramineni, records, transcribes, and summarizes meetings so teams can search and act on what was said. Isatong has described mentoring and partnership ties with that company as part of its work in enterprise AI.

A call to build for resilience

Professor Imafidon urged leaders and technologists to honor the dead not only with ceremony but with systems—technical and human—that assume disruption and still hold. "Let us continue to build systems that prioritize resilience, inclusivity, and progress."

As the world commemorates this somber anniversary, the unfinished work of 9/11 is continuity: remembering those who were lost, supporting those who survived, and designing infrastructure that does not fail when a single place does.
