BIM 3D Modeling: How BIM Architecture Is Changing Project Delivery

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - Sept. 10, 2026 - PRLog -- A building is no longer represented only by drawings. With BIM 3D Modeling, architects, engineers, contractors, and owners can work from a coordinated digital representation of a building—combining geometry with structured project information.

For modern BIM Architecture, this means moving beyond visualisation toward a more connected approach to design, coordination, documentation, and construction planning.

What Makes BIM 3D Modeling Different?

Traditional 3D models primarily communicate form. BIM Modeling adds information to that geometry.

A wall, for example, can contain parameters such as its dimensions, material, fire rating, manufacturer information, and relationship with other building elements. This makes the model useful not only for viewing a project, but also for coordination and decision-making.

The shift is reflected in industry adoption. NBS's 2025 Digital Construction Report, based on responses from 559 design and construction professionals, found that BIM adoption remained at approximately seven in ten professionals, while the industry's understanding of BIM continued moving beyond the idea of simply being "3D models with data."
