ViceVersa Tools Adds Two-Way MSG to NSF Converter for Outlook-to-Notes Mailbox Moves

NEW DELHI - Sept. 8, 2026 - PRLog -- ViceVersa Tools, a developer of file-conversion utilities for email and mailbox formats, has released an MSG to NSF Converter that also runs the process in reverse too, converting NSF files back to MSG.

The converter addresses a specific and recurring problem for organizations that run both Microsoft Outlook and IBM/HCL Lotus Notes: moving individual email files between the two systems' native formats. MSG is the file format Outlook uses to save individual messages; NSF is the database format Lotus Notes uses to store mail. Because the two formats are not natively interchangeable, users switching mail platforms, or maintaining archives across both, have historically needed to route files through export/import steps inside the mail clients themselves.

ViceVersa's tool runs as a standalone desktop application. Users select a source file or folder, choose the target format, and run the conversion; the company states that message attachments, and message-level data, carry over during the process. Notably, the NSF-to-MSG direction requires Lotus Notes to be installed on the machine for that specific conversion path, while the MSG-to-NSF direction does not require Outlook.

"Mailbox migrations between Outlook and Notes usually come up because of a platform switch or a merger between teams on different systems, not because someone wants to convert files for its own sake," said a product lead at ViceVersa Tools. "We built this so that job doesn't have to depend on having both mail clients configured and working at the same time."

The tool is offered as a free trial with limited output, and as a paid Personal license priced at $39, which covers one machine and one year of updates. It runs on Windows and is listed alongside ViceVersa's other mailbox-pair converters, which cover similar two-way conversions between other email and archive formats.
