Open Doors Establishes Lions Club to Expand Its Mission Across Silicon Valley

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Sept. 4, 2026 - PRLog -- Open Doors to Future Possibilities (ODTFP), a California nonprofit public benefit corporation dedicated to providing life-changing services to veterans, their family members, and low-income families has established the Silicon Valley Open Doors Lions Club to further its mission of serving veterans, lower-income individuals and their families throughout the Bay Area.

The new club formally installed its charter members and officers during a Charter Night celebration held August 29 at ODTFP's San Jose office. Dr. Simone Lundquist, founder of Open Doors to Future Possibilities, was installed as the club's president.

By forming a club affiliated with Lions Clubs International, one of the world's largest service organizations, Open Doors can build new relationships and create additional opportunities for volunteerism, community partnerships and funding. These resources will help the nonprofit expand its existing programs and reach more people who need support.

"Establishing the Silicon Valley Open Doors Lions Club gives us another way to advance the work ODTFP has been doing since 2019," said Dr. Simone Lundquist, Executive Director, ODTFP. "It connects our mission with a larger community of people who share our commitment to service. Together, we can reach more veterans, women, and lower-income families, strengthen our programs and make essential resources more accessible throughout Silicon Valley."

The club plans to organize distributions of furniture, food and other essential supplies for veterans, their families and women in the community. It will also host workshops and classes focused on Mental Fitness. These efforts will complement ODTFP's existing counseling, digital literacy, homeless outreach and community programs.

The Charter Night ceremony brought together Lions leaders and community dignitaries, including Lions District 4-C6 Governor Dave Kaplow, Immediate Past District Governor George Clark and San José District 7 Councilmember Bien Doan. Also participating were Past Council Chairperson Kevin Guess and club Guiding Lions Stan Weitzman and Allen King. The celebration included a barbecue dinner, music and a performance by the Swingin' Blue Stars.
