Powering Your Browser with WebGPU-Accelerated, 100% Local AI

KYOTO, Japan - Sept. 3, 2026 - PRLog -- In an era of privacy concerns over cloud-reliant AI, yourcut.net has released a suite of free Chrome extensions operating entirely on-device [1, 5, 6]. VLM Camera and Face Recognition Manager execute advanced AI inference—such as vision-language analysis, multilingual OCR, and face feature matching—within the browser with zero server data uploads [2, 6]. Backup is optional and connects directly to the user's personal Google Drive with client-side encryption; no third party can ever access or train on the data [3, 7].

High-Speed Inference with WebGPU and CPU Using Google Chrome's WebGPU API, the extensions run modern models directly on the user's GPU [6, 10]. Running the ultra-lightweight LFM 450M vision model yields remarkable speeds [11]:

• NVIDIA RTX 2060: Just 6 seconds per inference.
• AMD Ryzen 5 5625U (Integrated Graphics): Just 6 seconds per inference. Heavy VLM models require WebGPU, as falling back to CPU can take hundreds of seconds [10]. However, lightweight tasks like face recognition and license-plate crop OCR run extremely fast on any CPU-only device [11].

Versatile On-Device Capabilities

• VLM Camera: Runs scene-captioning VLMs (LFM 450M, Florence-2, SmolVLM) [11]. It includes a "Detect -> Crop -> OCR" pipeline (using PaddleOCR/Tesseract.js) to read license plates and multilingual text rapidly on any standard machine [11, 13].
• Face Recognition Manager: Designed for shared-PC productivity, it extracts secure face feature vectors to estimate utilization [1, 2]. It runs exceptionally fast on CPU-only machines [11]. It is intended purely for rough coordination and utilization logging, not surveillance or access control [4].

Global Readiness & Smartphone App Both tools are fully localized in 15 languages, including English and Japanese [10]. The developer also announced that a mobile-friendly web application is releasing shortly, bringing private, local WebGPU AI to smartphones.

The extensions are free to download on the Chrome Web Store, with optional cloud linkage for device management at around $1 USD/device monthly [1, 4, 8].
