ESG Consulting sets out fixed-scope approach to the 2027 reporting deadlines

Three deadlines now sit close together. The Department for Business and Trade published the final UK Sustainability Reporting Standards on 25 February 2026. The FCA has since consulted in CP26/5 on requiring listed companies to report against UK SRS S2 from 1 January 2027. ESOS Phase 4 qualification is assessed on a company's position at 31 December 2026, with compliance notification due to the Environment Agency by 5 December 2027. Separately, the SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0 takes effect on 31 January 2027.

One deadline moved the other way. The Omnibus I Directive entered into force on 18 March 2026 and narrowed the Article 40a test, cutting the non-EU CSRD population by roughly 88%. A significant number of UK groups that began CSRD programmes in 2024 and 2025 are no longer in scope. ESG Consulting scopes that question before any reporting work is commissioned.
