NRA Releases "The TRUE Story of Mothman"

Robert Goerman, longtime investigative scholar of unknown and unexplained phenomena and founder of the Nonhuman Research Agency, publishes his notes about the Mothman.

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - Sept. 7, 2026 - PRLog -- For decades, researchers and cryptid enthusiasts have frequently consulted popular culture sources regarding Mothman. This mistake rehashed longstanding misconceptions about the events of November 1966. Robert Goerman offers an alternative. His findings suggest that many portions of the current narrative began as flawed folklore that evolved into weapons-grade "balonium."

This conclusion is no reflection on the original witnesses. Three women, Linda Scarberry, Marcella Bennett, and Connie Jo Carpenter, each required medical attention following their traumatic and individual experiences. Public ridicule was rampant.

Goerman is no stranger to controversy. He is widely credited with identifying "Carlos Allende" as Carl Meredith Allen, the principal source behind the Philadelphia Experiment legend. His research documented Allen's life and became an important reference for later writers, regardless of whether they accepted or rejected the legend. That truth was not without cost. He explains, "When FATE magazine published 'Alias Carlos Allende' in October 1980, the true believers attacked in full torch-and-pitchfork mode.

"I do not know what the hell that Mothman was or is," Goerman confesses. "Something terrifying was encountered. May this report lead to an objective examination of the events experienced by residents of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and environs back in 1966."

Mothman now has a statue and annual festival in Point Pleasant. Every year on the third weekend in September, thousands of people flood the streets to celebrate.
