Acclaimed Author Wins Coveted "Best Narrated" Prize for "The Pilot and the Parrot" Audiobook

COURTENAY COMOX, British Columbia - Sept. 2, 2026 - PRLog -- Author James Allan Krause's sequel has won several awards. The Pilot and the Parrot had been an entrant in the Outstanding Creators Awards' summer competition. The group recognizes inspired talent from the literary and creative arts. Previous winners include iconic actor Sir Michael Cain and three-time Emmy award-winning journalist Julie Chapman. Krause eagerly shared the accolades with contributors.

Literary fiction set in Canada and Europe, the work is the second audiobook release from The Trilogy: Looking Back, Here and Now, Searching Forward series. The debut novel, Wetion (2nd edn), won multiple awards for its historical fiction. The futuristic finale, The Gardens of Venus, will be released in 2027.

Krause received "Best Narrator" award for The Pilot and the Parrot, the second time his storytelling skills have been recognized. The award giver described the work as "an extraordinarily unconventional literary family saga."

Three editors were credited with the quality production. The late award-winning Mark Allan, late Sharon Adams and Anna Krause, BEd, co-edited the print editions, creating a quality script for use with the audio version.

A second reviewer also praised the audiobook's quality. Olga Markova of Readers' Favorite gave the book five stars and noted Krause's book "is a remarkable work of literary fiction."

Four third-place awards were bestowed for specific distinctions. These were for the four categories of: Audiobooks, Absurdist Literature, Comedy/Humor/Satire, and Philosophical Books.

Five Honourable Mentions were shared with other competitors. The Best Character category included the Foerster family siblings, Frederick the pilot, Maria the professor and their rebellious younger brother Marcus. For Best Supporting Character, Pock the parrot and Bee, the dutiful Filipino housekeeper were named. Pock was also awarded Cutest Character. The Good Brothers, anything but, shared Honourable Mention for Best Villain. The category of Hottest Character/Most Beautiful Character/Most Handsome Character, spotlighted Frederick and Julie, the French Canadian teacher with eyes for the pilot.

As an entrant in the 2027 Audie Awards, considered the Oscars of audiobooks, The Pilot and the Parrot's merits will be further assessed. Krause has spent two decades of work creating hybrid style audiobooks combining novels, plays and original songs. While he feels the creative process has become as natural as breathing, there are always the hiccups keeping him grounded - making the 'oh my' moments especially uplifting.
