ARLINGTON, Texas - Aug. 31, 2026 - PRLog -- The Texas Trust Credit Union Gives Foundation has awarded $70,000 in Community Impact grants to 10 school districts across North and Central Texas, helping students begin the new school year with backpacks, school supplies, shoes, clothing, food, and other essential resources.

The Texas Trust Gives Foundation supports initiatives that help schools and community organizations remove barriers that can interfere with students' ability to attend school, participate fully, and succeed.

"Helping students start the school year with the necessary resources they need is one of the most tangible ways we can make a difference," said Washima Huq, executive director of the Texas Trust Gives Foundation. "But our impact doesn't stop with financial support. Our employees believe in giving their time and being present in the communities we serve, and we're proud that 45 employees recently volunteered at these back-to-school events to help make a difference for students and their families."

The foundation's 2026 grants supported programs at Arlington, Athens, Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Lewisville, Mansfield, and San Angelo independent school districts.

At Arlington, Cedar Hill, Lewisville, and San Angelo ISDs, grant funds supported back-to-school events that provided underserved students with backpacks and school supplies. Mansfield ISD used its grant to provide shoes to students in need, while Cedar Hill ISD also used funding to support its Longhorn Care Closet, which provides uniforms and other essentials to students.

Other grants address ongoing needs that extend beyond the start of the school year. In Athens, funding supports a program that provides nonperishable food to students who may not have enough food at home over the weekends. Grand Prairie ISD's Weekend Stability Packs provide students with food, hygiene products, clothing and other necessities, while Fort Worth ISD's THRIVE Market provides food and toiletries to refugee and asylum-seeking families.

DeSoto ISD is using its grant to support a Student Sustainability and Essentials Initiative, which provides students experiencing hardship with items such as uniforms, shoes, jackets, backpacks, and hygiene products. Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD is providing uniforms and related items to additional cadets participating in its Navy National Defense Cadet Corps/NJROTC program.
