A retired educator, Mitchell spent over 40 years writing this book. The author's interpretation of the 2024 presidential election is that it was a repudiation of the secular, techno-modernist vision of America's future identity being taught in our schools.
He believes the MAGA movement and the second Trump administration have moved rapidly to implement a patriotic education curriculum in K-12 schools. This has opened a window into re-envisioning the progressive, democratic perspective taught in our K-12 schools, in contrast with the Republican vision of Christian nationalism. Mitchell says, "This has been my greatest motivation in presenting this vision of a culture of democracy to adults and to the teachers in America."
