New Educational Video Examines Hydrogen Sulfide Hazards in the Workplace

PHOENIX - Aug. 30, 2026 - PRLog -- The IAQ Video Network, in association with Cochrane & Associates, LLC, has released Hydrogen Sulfide Exposure Hazards: What Everyone Should Know, a new educational video examining the dangers associated with hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) exposure.

The video is designed to provide useful information for employers, safety professionals, industrial hygienists, first responders, and workers who may encounter hydrogen sulfide in occupational or environmental settings.

"Hydrogen sulfide occurs naturally in sewers, manure pits, swamps, and decomposing organic matter," said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane & Associates, LLC and the IAQ Video Network. "It is also found in a number of industries and occupational settings. Because the gas is heavier than air, it can accumulate in low-lying areas and confined spaces. Exposure to high concentrations can cause rapid unconsciousness and death, making proper precautions essential."

OSHA regulations and applicable workplace safety requirements address exposure monitoring, employee training, confined-space procedures, ventilation, and appropriate personal protective equipment. Importantly, the familiar rotten-egg odor associated with hydrogen sulfide should not be relied upon as a warning because exposure can impair the sense of smell.
