PATNA, India - Aug. 19, 2026 - PRLog -- "Future Banking Will Be Driven by Consolidation and Skills," Says Chandan Sinha

The Indian Institute of Business Management (IIBM), Patna, organized an inspiring edition of its flagship "Meet the Leader" program, featuring Mr. Chandan Sinha, Chairman of RBL Bank and former Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), as the Chief Guest. Mr. Sinha served the Reserve Bank of India for 35 years and currently serves as the Chairman of RBL Bank.

Interacting with MBA, BBA, and BCA students on career readiness, Mr. Sinha said that this is the age of specialists. He said, "Additional certifications and specialized skills, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI), significantly enhance employability." He encouraged students to adopt lifelong learning as a career strategy, adding, "If you do not learn fast enough, someone with newer skills will replace you." While technical competence remains essential, he observed that organizations today increasingly value communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities, making people skills indispensable for career growth. Mr. Sinha also noted that modern careers are no longer tied to a single organization. Unlike previous generations, professionals today are expected to build careers across multiple organizations, making adaptability and career mobility essential for long-term success.

Mr. Sinha also familiarized students with emerging trends in the banking industry. "While banks and governments continue strengthening cybersecurity systems, cybercriminals constantly evolve their methods," he said. He added that physical retail banking would continue to remain relevant in the foreseeable future despite rapid digitalization. However, he predicted greater consolidation among banks to reduce operational costs. As a result, banking processes will become more standardized, making services increasingly similar across banks. He further stated that India will continue to witness an inflow of foreign capital to support its economic development and meet the growing demand for investments and credit.

Responding to a question on Bihar's economic development, Mr. Sinha emphasized the need to improve the state's Ease of Doing Business. He appreciated the ongoing infrastructure development but pointed out that infrastructure alone is insufficient to attract investment. He called for dynamic leadership within the administrative machinery so that entrepreneurs and investors can interact efficiently with ministers and bureaucrats without unnecessary delays, thereby creating a more business-friendly environment.
