One Scales Launches Free Directory for Sites Adopting the WebMCP Standard

AUSTIN, Texas - Aug. 19, 2026 - PRLog -- One Scales Inc., a software studio building tools and infrastructure for the AI agent ecosystem, today announced the launch of WebMCP Directory, a free, automatically-verified index of websites that have adopted WebMCP, an emerging open standard for exposing in-browser tools to AI agents.

WebMCP Directory currently lists 121 sites spanning 363 individually named tools across 12 categories, including Developer Tools, Social & Communication, Productivity & Business, Travel, Education, and Health & Fitness. The list already includes a number of recognizable consumer and enterprise brands, underscoring that WebMCP adoption is moving beyond early experimentation.

"WebMCP is early enough that there are very little resources of who's adopting it," said Ori Tzvielli, founder of One Scales. "We built the same kind of index for llms.txt adoption with LLMS.txt Directory. This is the same idea applied to WebMCP — index the surface area now, while it's still small enough to index completely."

How it works

Unlike directories that rely on self-reported claims, WebMCP Directory verifies every listing automatically. When a site is submitted, the platform fetches the page and scans for three technical signals: use of the navigator.modelContext API, registerTool call sites, and a /.well-known/mcp.json descriptor. A detected signal publishes the listing immediately, along with any tool names the scan can read — for example add_to_cart or find_restaurants rather than a generic claim of "AI-enabled."

The directory is explicit that detection is evidence, not proof: sites that register tools only after user sign-in, or that build tool names at runtime inside minified code, may not be fully readable by the scanner. In those cases, a listing goes to manual review rather than being rejected outright.

Every verified listing receives a live, embeddable badge that displays its current tool count and stops rendering if the site stops passing verification — a status indicator that cannot be replicated with a static image.

WebMCP Directory (https://webmcpdirectory.onescales.com/) is free to browse and free to submit to, with no account required. Site owners can add a listing at webmcpdirectory.onescales.com/submit. The directory itself is listed under Developer Tools and exposes four of its own WebMCP tools — search_webmcp_sites, get_webmcp_site, list_webmcp_categories, and prepare_webmcp_submission — so agents can query the directory the same way they would query any site indexed within it.
