SpeedCheckTest Launches a Transparent, Real-World Study of American Broadband Speeds

CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Aug. 14, 2026 - PRLog -- Cheyenne, WY  SpeedCheckTest today announced the State of US Internet Speed 2026, an ongoing study tracking real-world internet speeds Americans experience, state by state. All figures come from voluntary tests where visitors explicitly opt in, then aggregated by state and published only once a minimum sample is reached — no advertised plan data, no proprietary panels.

What the study is building toward:

Median download, upload, and ping for every U.S. state, published as each crosses the minimum sample threshold (30+ consented tests in trailing 12 months).

Advertised-versus-actual comparisons and distribution data (p10/p25/p75/p90).

A live, continuously updating dataset with downloadable CSV per state.

Built on transparency. Most speed rankings use opaque panels or self-reported plans. This study is the opposite — methodology published in full. Tests run in-browser over real infrastructure; state attribution happens via Cloudflare's cf-region header with no IP address stored; records kept only for visitors who explicitly consent. Medians (p50) resist outliers — one fiber connection can't distort a state's typical speed.
