Midwest Stratospheric Data Systems Announces Limited Partnership Under Aerostratospheric

EFFINGHAM, Ill. - Aug. 7, 2026 - PRLog -- Aerostratospheric Corporation, an Illinois not-for-profit organization, has announced establishment of the oversight of Midwest Stratospheric Data Systems (MSDS) as a limited partnership dedicated to stratospheric research, atmospheric measurement, and open environmental data.

MSDS serves as Aerostratospheric's specialized research operation for developing lightweight high-altitude payloads and collecting atmospheric observations through unmanned balloon missions.

The organization's primary high-altitude payload platform, formerly known as the Atmospheric Measurement Unmanned Payload (AmUP) Craft, has been renamed X2Griffon. The platform is designed to carry scientific instrumentation into the upper atmosphere and collect atmospheric measurements for research and public use.

"X2Griffon represents the next stage of our high-altitude research program," said Jeremy D. Higgs, who leads Midwest Stratospheric Data Systems. "Our objective is to collect meaningful atmospheric data and make that information accessible to researchers, educators, and the public."
