Maiden Mother Crone: The Anthology brings global voices together through poetry

The third volume in the Crossing Places series moves from personal testimony to a shared conversation across cultures, generations and geographies.

CAPE COD, Mass. - Aug. 4, 2026 - PRLog -- Sea Crow Press is delighted to announce Maiden Mother Crone: The Anthology, the third and culminating volume in Madeleine F. White's Crossing Places series Co-edited by author, poet and Write On! founder Madeleine F. White and award-winning poet and Sea Crow Press founder Mary Petiet, the collection brings together poets from around the world in a conversation about body, memory, land, love, loss, motherhood, daughterhood, ageing, renewal, courage and hope.

Drawn from around 150 submissions and workshops in the UK and internationally, the anthology features voices from women and men. Its three sections—Maiden, Mother and Crone—are presented as lived, overlapping experiences.

"This anthology grew out of listening: to women's voices, to what is carried in the body and to what insists on being spoken, even when it's been held in silence."
— Madeleine F. White, co-editor

"These poems howl, lament and sing, bearing witness to beauty and cruelty and reminding us there is always hope to be found."
— Sarah Westcott

The poems range from pastoral, ballad and lyric forms to contemporary free verse and prose poetry. Together, they challenge narrow definitions of the feminine while making room for witness, humour, anger, tenderness, spirituality and transformation.

The anthology grew from Maiden Mother Crone, White's memoir in verse exploring trauma, motherhood, addiction, recovery and hope. The Crossing Places series begins with discovery in The Horse And The Girl, unfolds through personal truth in Maiden Mother Crone, and culminates in a community of voices spanning cultures, generations and geographies.
