| Zyaku Founder Argues The Next Internet Will Be Built On Less, Not MoreRohit Kashyap, founder of Zyaku, argues in a new essay that AI-driven content abundance is creating an "attention collapse," and that the next generation of internet platforms will compete on removing noise rather than producing more content.
By: Zyaku Inc. The essay traces what Kashyap describes as a four-stage progression in how the internet has been organized: an initial Information Economy focused on making information findable, followed by an Attention Economy focused on capturing user engagement, followed by what he calls a Decision Economy in which the central challenge becomes helping people determine what deserves their attention, and finally what he terms a Bandwidth Economy, in which human cognitive and emotional capacity becomes the scarcest resource in the system. Kashyap argues that artificial intelligence is not creating the internet's attention problem but is accelerating it, since AI can now generate near-unlimited articles, videos, images, and audio while human attention remains fixed at the same daily capacity it has always had. He writes that this imbalance will make individual pieces of content increasingly difficult to notice, regardless of quality, simply due to surrounding volume. The essay proposes that technology companies have historically measured the wrong outcomes, citing metrics such as daily active users, session duration, and engagement rate, and argues for an alternative measurement standard based on how much unnecessary cognitive load a platform removes from a person's day. It further argues that the most valuable products of the next decade will be defined by how quickly and cleanly they let a person exit, rather than how long they retain a person's attention. Kashyap connects the argument directly to product decisions at Zyaku, a creator platform he has been developing, stating that the company's design process is guided by the question of what kind of internet its team would want to use in ten years, rather than by conventional engagement metrics. "The next generation of technology won't win because it creates more content," Kashyap writes. "It will win because it helps people ignore everything that doesn't matter."
