| Together against violence: No more silenceAccording to DSVSF, common indicators include sudden withdrawal from friends and family, unexplained injuries, controlling behaviour by a partner, persistent fearfulness, and restricted access to money or communication. Survivors often face stigma and silence, making early recognition by families, neighbours, and workplaces critical to preventing escalation. "Spotting abuse early can save lives," said Jude Anopueme, Founder and Program Lead at DSVSF. "We urge communities everywhere to be alert and connect survivors to help before violence escalates. No one should have to face this alone." Since its founding, DSVSF has supported more than 56 survivors, trained 14 volunteers, and assisted with 7 legal cases. The foundation provides free, confidential counselling, legal aid, emergency shelter referrals, and operates a 24/7 hotline at +234 808 190 7305 (WhatsApp preferred). Members of the public who notice warning signs are encouraged to reach out gently, avoid judgment, and connect individuals to support services.
