BTE @ UGA 50th Anniversary Continues with Celebration of Alum Robert Connor & "The Light Within"

The importance of the Black Theatrical Ensemble at the University of Georgia, founded by Morehouse graduate, Larry Calhoun, intensifies during this time of cultural wars that would eradicate or downplay  the art and history of Black Americans.  With BTE @ UGA 50th celebrating BTE Alum Robert Connor's Dominion Arts Foundation production of "The Light Within," the past, present, and future are acknowledged.

"We are pleased to acknowledge the work of a fellow University of Georgia graduate who honed some of his artistic excellence with BTE," said Larry Calhoun, a dramaturgist who as a graduate student at UGA founded BTE in 1976.  "Telling our stories and training the young people of Robert's Summer Intensive program to carry those stories in the future is quite significant."

"The Light Within" after weeks of training, reinforces for our youth that they have inner power to withstand darkness by shining forth with the excellence they embody," said Robert Connor, founder of Dominion Entertainment and the Dominion Arts Foundation. "It is an honor to be saluted by BTE along with other alumni during this year-long celebration of the group."
