From baby showers to retirements: Britain's fastest-growing celebrations revealedNew Tagvenue data reveals sustained growth in engagement parties, baby showers and graduations as traditional celebrations lose momentum
By: Tagvenue Analysis of UK venue enquiries on the platform between 2022 and 2026 found overall demand across the marketplace grew by 33%. Occasion Growth (2022–2026) Birthday dinners +194% Children's birthday parties* +163% Retirement parties +117% Engagement parties +86% Christenings +65% Graduation parties +61% Baby showers +60% Bridal showers +41% The shift has also been remarkably consistent. Baby showers, engagement parties, birthday dinners, bridal showers, christenings and graduations all recorded year-on-year growth between 2022 and 2026, suggesting a longer-term change in how Brits choose to celebrate rather than a short-lived post-pandemic trend. In contrast, several long-established occasions failed to keep pace with the wider market. Christmas dinner enquiries fell 50% between 2022 and 2025, while Christmas party enquiries dropped 26%. Anniversary parties declined 17%, enquiries specifically for 30th birthday parties fell 15%, and overall birthday party enquiries grew by 29% - slightly below the marketplace's overall growth. Artur Stepaniak, Co-founder of Tagvenue (https://www.tagvenue.com/ "The occasions people choose to celebrate appear to be changing. Rather than gathering simply because the calendar tells us to, we're seeing much stronger growth around moments that genuinely change someone's life; getting engaged, welcoming a baby, graduating or retiring. "Those occasions often feel more meaningful, which may explain why people are increasingly willing to bring friends and family together to mark them. People are becoming more selective about what they celebrate, but when the moment matters, they're making more of it. "The common thread across the fastest-growing occasions is that they're deeply personal. They're milestones that often only happen once, or a handful of times in someone's life, so people are putting more thought into how they mark them." The trend extends well beyond London. In Manchester, enquiries for milestone celebrations grew by 137%, compared with 34% growth across the city's venue market overall. London showed a similar pattern, with milestone occasions rising 51% against 12% marketplace growth, suggesting this shift is taking place across multiple parts of the country. The data also points to a shift in how birthdays are being celebrated. While traditional birthday party enquiries grew more slowly than the overall market, birthday dinner enquiries almost tripled over the same period, suggesting many people are moving away from larger parties in favour of more intimate celebrations centred around food and shared experiences.
