A Coach and His Players The Patriot Way By Mike Maloni

After a brutal previous season, the New England Patriots have started anew. Coach Roddy McCracken has dedicated his life to making the Patriots a contender.

Now his main project is Stan Jueggerman, a much-maligned, first-round draft pick. The coach is building a team around the rookie and his top wide receiver, Shep Mannix.

The defense is led by Nelson Bomar, a fierce middle linebacker and captain of the defense. Charley Sperling, the team's owner, lights a fire under the linebacker when the player expresses strong interest in returning with a multi-year contract so he can retire as a Patriot.

Under Coach McCracken's guidance, the story winds through Foxboro, Massachusetts, as well as several host cities in their quest for a championship.

Says author Mike Maloni, "I love the Patriots." The first draft of his book is four years old. "This novel was close to my heart at the beginning. I tried to join my love of Eastern and Western Massachusetts, because both places in the Commonwealth have a special place in my heart."

About the Author: A 1994 graduate of Boston University College of Communication, Mike Maloni's heart has never been far from his alma mater. He has fought mental illness throughout the years and is very optimistic about his future and for others in their battle against conditions they cannot see. The author lives in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, a suburb of Springfield. This is his ninth novel. "I believe that sports in general bring about very respectful rules and regulations that help young people grow up. Oh, yes! They are also fun!"
