  • The TAD Lab • Campbell Canes Ron Campbell spent forty years redesigning the cane. Now he's asking a bigger question: what if we could design focus itself?

Tampa, Florida Jun 28, 2026  - Ron Campbell Introduces HORSEY Focus by Design Through The TAD Lab, Expanding a Four-Decade Legacy of Human-Centered InnovationFounder of Campbell Canes launches an exploration-stage initiative focused on reducing visual distraction through thoughtful design while inviting educators, clinicians, caregivers, and the public to follow the project's development.

His previous innovation, the Campbell Posture Cane, earned recognition from healthcare professionals and rehabilitation specialists for its ergonomic approach to posture and mobility.

HORSEY Focus by Design represents the next phase of Campbell's design philosophy. Inspired by the long-standing use of horse blinkers to reduce unnecessary visual distractions, the project explores whether carefully managing peripheral visual input through a wearable eyewear platform can contribute to more comfortable visual environments in everyday settings.

"Throughout my career, I've believed that better design begins by understanding how humans naturally function," said Ron Campbell, founder of The TAD Lab. "HORSEY Focus by Design continues that philosophy by asking whether thoughtfully designed environments can support focus rather than relying solely on willpower."

The project is currently in its exploration and user-feedback stage. The TAD Lab emphasizes that HORSEY Focus by Design is not presented as a medical treatment, therapy, or clinically validated product, and no medical or therapeutic claims are being made. Development is guided by observation, responsible product design, and ongoing feedback from educators, caregivers, clinicians, occupational therapists, parents, and other interested community members.

As development progressed, Campbell also introduced the Drop-In Lens Platform, a modular eyewear concept allowing interchangeable lens configurations to better accommodate different visual environments and user needs. A provisional patent application has been filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) . The application has been filed but has not been reviewed, approved, or issued as a patent.

The HORSEY Focus by Design project is currently being presented through an Indiegogo Preview campaign, allowing interested supporters to follow development before the public campaign launches.

Campbell believes that innovation develops through continuous dialogue with the communities it hopes to serve and welcomes questions and constructive feedback as the project evolves.
