From Shore Power to Water Treatment: Winners of the Vector Award 2026 Announced

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - June 28, 2026 - PRLog -- igus, the motion plastics specialist, has announced the winners of the 10th vector award 2026, recognizing outstanding and sustainable energy chain applications. With a record 424 entries from 36 countries, this anniversary edition highlights innovation, durability, and environmental impact powered by igus energy chains and chainflex cables.

The gold vector award goes to Cruise Port Rotterdam for its mobile shore power system. Using the igus Mobile Shore Power Outlet (iMSPO) with robust e-chains, the solution enables cruise ships to switch off diesel generators, reducing emissions at port to zero. The system's adaptability, UV and salt resistance, and seamless integration demonstrate igus corrosion-resistant, low-maintenance and space-saving cable management benefits.

The silver award was given to Jenaer Antriebstechnik GmbH for ultra-precise microchip positioning. By combining igus e-skin flat cables with chainflex cables, the system achieves ±0.1μm accuracy while minimising vibration and abrasion. The cleanroom-compatible solution highlights igus low-friction, wear-resistant and contamination-free performance.

In the cultural sector, the Royal Ballet and Opera received the bronze award for its 37m stage tower. Its customised igus energy chain system has delivered reliable, quiet operation for over 25 years, now upgraded with E4.56 series chains for LED technology. The project showcases igus long service life, lightweight design, and sustainability through recycling.

The green vector award was presented to Membion GmbH for a membrane bioreactor filtering microplastics and bacteria from water. Using compact igus E2 energy chains with chainflex cables, the system ensures reliable operation in humid, confined spaces—reinforcing igus durability, flexibility and suitability for demanding environments.
