| Fan zones full, bars packed: World Cup fans fuel surge in private watch party bookingsBy: Tagvenue But while much of the attention has focused on official fan infrastructure struggling to keep pace with demand, new data from venue hire platform Tagvenue (https://www.tagvenue.com/) Across Tagvenue's global marketplace, demand for screening and watch party venues during the tournament dates, increased 7% year-on-year in the twelve months leading up to the tournament, with some markets posting dramatically stronger growth. Canada recorded a 327% increase in screening venue demand, while Singapore saw enquiries rise by 305%. Ireland posted 200% growth, and Chicago emerged as the fastest-growing US city, with demand increasing by 250% year-on-year. At venue level, the strongest growth came from spaces designed for social experiences rather than traditional sports screenings. Nightclubs saw demand rise by 167%, entertainment centres by 160%, historic venues by 92%, and bars by 81%. "What we're seeing across the World Cup is something that has been building for several years," said Artur Stepaniak, co-founder of Tagvenue. "Fans increasingly want more control over the viewing experience. They want to know everyone in their group gets in. They want their own screen, their own atmosphere, and somewhere they can stay before and after the match. The World Cup simply puts that trend under a spotlight." The shift comes as host cities experience unprecedented numbers of travelling supporters. While host cities spent years preparing for the tournament, the scale and mobility of travelling fanbases has still created pressure points across transport networks, fan zones and hospitality venues. Scotland's Tartan Army made headlines in Boston after overwhelming local bars and fan gathering spots before continuing south to Miami, highlighting the challenge of accommodating large concentrations of supporters moving between host cities. New York remains Tagvenue's (https://www.tagvenue.com/ For venue operators, the data points to a wider cultural shift in how major sporting events are consumed. Speaking of the demand, Stepaniak added: "This isn't just a World Cup story, we're seeing fans treat live sport the same way they treat birthdays, corporate events or celebrations. The match becomes the reason for gathering, but the venue experience itself is increasingly part of the occasion." End
