Smith received a new Chromebook in recognition of her winning essay and her thoughtful vision for using technology in her future career.

The Tech for Tomorrow Initiative was created to encourage graduating seniors to think beyond the classroom and consider how technology can help shape their education, careers, and ability to solve real-world problems. Evans High School seniors were invited to submit original handwritten essays explaining how they plan to leverage technology in their future career field.

This year's submissions reflected an impressive range of student ambition and creativity. Students wrote about using technology in healthcare, nursing, cosmetology, criminal justice, construction, engineering, AutoCAD, sports coaching, and business development. Their essays explored topics such as medical imaging, digital health records, online education, social media branding, virtual design tools, predictive analytics, body cameras, drones, 3D modeling, e-commerce, and digital platforms for connecting with clients, patients, athletes, and communities.

Smith's winning essay stood out for its clear connection between technology and healthcare. In her essay, Smith discussed her goal of becoming a nurse and described how tools such as electronic health records, telehealth, patient monitoring systems, and advanced medical technologies can improve patient care, communication, accuracy, and access to treatment.

"Alexis demonstrated exactly what this contest was created to inspire: a student thinking seriously about her future and understanding how technology can be used to serve others.
