PRLog -- Kolkata: Screenwriters Pinaki Ghosh and Anupriya Dutta moved to court against the producers of the Bollywood film Governor, the Silent Savior film, featuring Manoj Bajpayee, for allegedly using the screenplay written by them and not paying them, nor giving credit to them in the film. In a court order by Barasat Court a show cause has been issued against the producers of the film Governor; Sunshine Pictures, Vipul A Shah and screenwriter Shubhendu Bhattarjee, which may result in an injunction should the producers fail to appear before the court with answers.
It is alleged that screenwriter Shubhendu Bhattacharjee, one of the writers of Governor, the Silent Savier film hired screenwriters Pinaki Ghosh and Anupriya Dutta in Kolkata, to write the story and screenplay of Governor, in April 2019, promising to pay them Rs 125,000; of which he paid Rs 45,000 and failed to pay the remaining Rs 80,000. The writing was completed by November 2019, following which Pinaki Ghosh and Anupriya Dutta sent him several reminders to pay, which were ignored by Shubhendu Bhattcharjee.
The story and screenplay were around the Governor of Reserve Bank saving India from an economic catastrophe in 1990 by pledging the gold reserves of India – suggested screenwriter Pinaki Ghosh. He suggested he has submitted the screenplay and communication proofs to Barasat court well before the film released. He and his writing partner Anupriya Dutta decided to move to court when the teaser of the film dropped on 9 May this year, and they discovered the film has been made from their screenplay without crediting their names, nor completing their payment. On 6 June 2026 Barasat Court (title suit 597/2026) ordered a show cause against screenwriter Shubhendu Bhattacharjee and Sunshine Pictures, producers of Governor, the Silent Savier, failing which an injunction may be issued against the display of this film.
