GoTo Telemed Launches 24/7 Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Program

KALISPELL, Mont. - June 12, 2026 - PRLog -- GoTo Telemed, a nationwide integrated telehealth platform serving over 10 million patients, today launched its 24/7 Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Program. The service provides immediate, CDC‑guideline‑aligned prophylaxis for individuals with potential exposure to HIV, hepatitis B (HBV), or rabies, all delivered through GoTo Telemed's secure, HIPAA‑compliant virtual platform.

PEP involves taking medication or biologic products as soon as possible after a high‑risk exposure to prevent infection. The CDC treats any potential HIV exposure as a medical emergency. GoTo Telemed's program ensures patients can be evaluated and started on guideline‑recommended therapy within hours, not days.

HIV PEP Protocols
  • Window: PEP should begin within 72 hours (ideally within 2 hours) after exposure. The full course is 28 days.
  • Preferred regimen (CDC 2025): For most adults and adolescents, bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) or dolutegravir plus (tenofovir alafenamide or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) plus (emtricitabine or lamivudine).
  • Follow‑up: HIV testing at 4–6 weeks and 12 weeks after exposure.
  • Transition to PrEP: Patients with ongoing risk are offered pre‑exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) upon completing PEP.

Hepatitis B PEP
  • Timing: Ideally within 24 hours of exposure to HBsAg‑positive blood or body fluids.
  • Protocol: Unvaccinated or nonresponder patients receive hepatitis B vaccine plus hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG).

Rabies PEP
  • Components: Immediate wound cleansing, one dose of human rabies immune globulin (HRIG) infiltrated around the wound, and a four‑dose rabies vaccine series (days 0, 3, 7, 14). For immunocompromised patients, a five‑dose regimen is used (days 0, 3, 7, 14, 28).

Unified Platform Features
  • 24/7 virtual triage with board‑certified clinicians
  • Same‑day e‑prescribing to the patient's local pharmacy (HIV PEP, HBIG, rabies vaccine referral)
  • Automated follow‑up reminders for HIV testing and subsequent rabies vaccine doses
  • Seamless PrEP transition pathway

The program is available immediately nationwide. Patients may self‑refer or be referred by a primary care provider, emergency department, or occupational health office. Most major insurance plans are accepted.
