2nd Low Carbon Data Centres to Examine Decarbonisation and Infrastructure Developments in Asia

Bangkok summit examines renewable energy, grid readiness, carbon reduction and sustainable growth strategies for Asia's expanding data centre sector

BANGKOK - June 8, 2026 - PRLog -- Growing investment in cloud computing, artificial intelligence and hyperscale infrastructure is reshaping Southeast Asia's energy landscape, placing renewable energy procurement, grid readiness and decarbonisation at the centre of the data centre industry's next phase of growth. These issues will be examined at the 2nd Low Carbon Data Centres, organised by Centre for Management Technology (CMT) on 16–17 June 2026 in Bangkok.

Thailand continues to strengthen its position as a regional digital infrastructure hub, while rising electricity demand from new data centre developments is driving discussions around sustainable power supply, transmission capacity and long-term energy security. The conference comes as the country advances new frameworks for renewable electricity procurement, reflecting growing efforts to align digital expansion with climate and sustainability objectives.

The event follows CMT's first Low Carbon Data Centres summit held in Kuala Lumpur in 2025, reflecting increasing regional interest in the intersection of digital infrastructure growth, energy security and decarbonisation. Since then, accelerating hyperscale investment, expanding AI workloads and evolving renewable energy policies have heightened industry focus on securing sustainable power solutions for future capacity growth.

Chaired by Ronald J Rogers, Chief Executive Officer of Mitico International, the conference brings together policymakers, utilities, investors, developers and technology providers to examine the practical challenges and opportunities associated with building lower-carbon digital infrastructure.

The programme features speakers and panellists from organisations including the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Uptime Institute, Arthur D. Little, GE Vernova, Cushman & Wakefield, ERM, Puro.earth, Watson Farley & Williams, Avaada Energy, Hydroleap, ib vogt, Chunghwa Telecom and Siam Cement Group (SCG).

Key discussions will explore how policy frameworks, investment incentives and infrastructure planning are shaping Thailand's emergence as a regional data centre hub. The agenda also addresses grid readiness, renewable energy procurement, power purchase agreements, renewable energy certificates, energy-efficient facility design, advanced cooling technologies, water stewardship and strategies for reducing Scope 3 emissions.

As governments and industry seek to balance digital transformation with climate commitments, the conference provides a platform for examining how renewable energy, resilient infrastructure and sustainable operations can support the continued growth of Asia's data centre sector.

The 2nd Low Carbon Data Centres takes place on 16–17 June 2026 at Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok, Thailand. Further information is available from Centre for Management Technology.
