Texas Trust Gives Foundation Completes Major Spring Food Drive to Fight Summer HungerBy: Texas Trust Gives Foundation The foundation raised $8,000 through an employee giving campaign, which was donated directly to the participating food banks to further support their local hunger relief efforts. While the distribution amounts varied based on the specific needs of each organization, every dollar went straight toward strengthening the communities these food banks serve. The campaign focused on addressing food insecurity leading into summer, when many families – especially those with children – face heightened challenges due to the end of school meal programs. The drive supported the North Texas Food Bank, Mission Arlington, Tarrant Area Food Bank, Concho Valley Food Bank, and Henderson County Food Pantry. "Most organizations focus their giving around the winter holidays, but the need for nutritious food is constant year-round," At the North Texas Food Bank, foundation volunteers helped package 37,125 meals, while the monetary donation it received provided enough food to feed 18,000 families. The Tarrant Area Food Bank utilized its financial donation to provide 10,000 meals. In total, the drive delivered 1,286 canned fruits, meats, and vegetables; 2,292 grain items including cereal and pasta; and 1,391 high-need staples such as peanut butter and oil, which was shared across all the food banks.
